Four Myebon residents injured in regime shelling
Four men in Kanhtaunggyi town, part of Arakan State’s Myebon Township, were injured in a junta artillery strike on Sunday night.

Four men in Kanhtaunggyi town, part of Arakan State’s Myebon Township, were injured in a junta artillery strike on Sunday night.
Junta troops stationed on Mt. Tawhein in neighbouring Ann Township’s Kazukaing village-tract fired mortar shells into the town at around 8 p.m., injuring the four locals and destroying some homes.
“Two of them received severe shrapnel wounds to their bodies,” said a local resident in Kanhtaunggyi town.
U Khin Maung, 40, sustained shrapnel wounds to his right thigh. DMG continues to investigate the names of the other injured.
The regime contingent fired the three mortar shells into Kanhtaunggyi town without there being any clashes with the Arakan Army (AA) in the area on Sunday, a local resident said.
Mt. Tawhein is located about 11 miles north of Kanhtaunggyi town.
Fighting in Arakan State remains oftentimes intense and civilian casualties have continued to rise due largely to the junta’s indiscriminate use of heavy weapons since renewed fighting between the military and Arakan Army.
