Seven IDPs recover from food poisoning in Sittwe
Seven internally displaced people (IDPs) from a displacement camp in Sittwe, Arakan State, have recovered from food poisoning after receiving emergency medical treatment.

Seven internally displaced people (IDPs) from a displacement camp in Sittwe, Arakan State, have recovered from food poisoning after receiving emergency medical treatment.
An IDP couple from the same camp, No. 1 Wibizatadi, died from food poisoning after they ate a globefish curry on July 6.
The four children of the deceased couple and three other people who had eaten the curry also suffered symptoms of food poisoning and received emergency medical treatment at hospital in the Arakan State capital Sittwe.
“Their health is good now. I recently got back from the hospital and saw them recovering from the illness. The children were playing, resting and sleeping,” said Sayadaw Ashin Sakainna, who established the IDP camp.
The couple are survived by their four children, the eldest being 13 years old and the youngest just 3 years old.
“These four children have maternal grandparents. Their grandparents said they would raise these children. It depends on their will as it is a family affair,” said Sayadaw Ashin Sakainna.
There are 520 IDPs at No. 1 Wibizatadi IDP camp. Most arrived in May 2019, fleeing conflict in Rathedaung, Kyauktaw, Buthidaung and Paletwa townships.
