Seven schools temporary closed in Rathedaung Township
Some schools in conflict affected areas could be reopen, but seven schools in Rathedaung Township have been closed due to fighting, said U Sein Tun Hla, Deputy director of the office of the head of Education Department in Arakan State.

Some schools in conflict affected areas could be reopen, but seven schools in Rathedaung Township have been closed due to fighting, said U Sein Tun Hla, Deputy director of the office of the head of Education Department in Arakan State.
“Only seven schools have yet to reopen in Rathedaung Township up to 24 July,” U Sein Tun Hla said.
Two high schools, two middle schools and three primary schools from Kyauktan, Lamonedaing, Laigwin, Yay Soe Chaung, Taung Yin Paing and Kin Pun Chaung villages have been closed due to the ongoing fighting.
The Education Department in Arakan State has been instructed to accept students from these areas to attend nearby schools.
U Aung Hla Thein, a parent from Mrauk-U Myo Thit IDP camp, said that he was concerned about the education of the children because they can study from 7 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. in the camp.
“Students have to attend their class for short term. The study time for primary students is between 7 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. So, the education schedule for IDP students is insufficient,” he said.
There are 280 students in Mrauk-U Myo Thit IDP camp and they are in need of teaching equipment and other supplies.
