Local administrator: ARSA kills two Border Guard police in Maungdaw
Police from the Aungzu Border Guard Force in northern Maungdaw Township, Arakan State, were attacked by the Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA) on April 15, with the militants killing two officers and making off with a pair of guns, according to an official from the Maungdaw District General Administration Department.

Police from the Aungzu Border Guard Force in northern Maungdaw Township, Arakan State, were attacked by the Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA) on April 15, with the militants killing two officers and making off with a pair of guns, according to an official from the Maungdaw District General Administration Department.
The bodies of Police Lance Corporal Aung Aung and Private Sithu Aung were found having been set on fire, said U Soe Aung, Maungdaw District administrator.
“I thought it was the responsibility of ARSA because the area sees the movement of ARSA members,” he said.
An authority from the Khamaungseik town General Administration Department said four members of the Aungzu Border Guard Police Force clashed with a group of ARSA members between Waylar village and Khamaungseik town while the police were returning from the town.
“Two of them escaped from the fighting with members of ARSA near Anaw mosque,” the authority said.
On March 30, villagers who were attempting to trap a wild pig near Anaw mosque in Sinthaypyin village encountered a homemade explosive device allegedly laid by ARSA, which killed two villagers and injured three others, according to the Office of the Commander-in-Chief.
