Rohingya groups clash near Maungdaw, Muslim refugee camp in Bangladesh set ablaze
A Muslim refugee camp on the Bangladesh side of the border near Taungpyo Letyar in northern Maungdaw Township, Arakan State, was torched Wednesday evening following fighting between two Rohingya armed groups.

A Muslim refugee camp on the Bangladesh side of the border near Taungpyo Letyar in northern Maungdaw Township, Arakan State, was torched Wednesday evening following fighting between two Rohingya armed groups.
The Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA) and the Rohingya Solidarity Organisation clashed on Tuesday and Wednesday, according to a resident of Taungpyo Letwe.
“The refugee camp is located on the other side of the border,” he said. “We heard ARSA troops were deployed near the refugee camp, and RSO went to attack them. We saw smoke from the camp that was torched yesterday.”
The camp in Bangladesh’s Bandarban District is reportedly home to thousands of Muslim refugees from Myanmar.
Another Taungpyo Letwe resident said he heard gunfire from the direction of the refugee camp at about 10 p.m. on Wednesday.
“There was fighting the whole day on Tuesday. We also heard gunfire last night. We don’t know where the refugees fled to. However, they have not crossed the border into Myanmar,” he said.
ARSA is active in northern Maungdaw, and occasionally clashes with the Myanmar border guard police.
