Nighttime curfew extended in Ann Twsp
A nighttime curfew has been extended for another two months, from July 2, in Arakan State’s Ann Township.

A nighttime curfew has been extended for another two months, from July 2, in Arakan State’s Ann Township.
“The previous statement was renewed. The content is the same as the previous statement,” said U Htay Aung, chairman of the Ann Township military council.
With the curfew extension, people in Ann Township are not to go out in public from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Ko Myo Lwin, a resident of Ann Township, said fishermen in Ann Township were facing difficulties due to the curfew.
“The curfew is no longer needed. The curfew has hurt local people,” he said. “People in Ann Township are engaged in fishing, so they have to look at the tide and catch fish. They will not be able to go to work because they are not allowed to leave from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.”
The nighttime curfew was lifted on February 6 in Arakan State’s Thandwe, Gwa, Kyaukphyu, Manaung, Taungup, Ramree, Pauktaw and Sittwe townships.
