Heavy rain expected in various parts of Arakan State, says weather official
Heavy rain is expected over the next two days in various parts of Arakan State, according to an official from the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology (DMH).

Heavy rain is expected over the next two days in various parts of Arakan State, according to an official from the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology (DMH).
U Hla Tun, director of the DMH, told DMG that heavy rains were likely due to strong monsoon winds over the Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal.
“Strong monsoon winds are likely in Arakan State. There will be floods in the creeks and canals during heavy rains. July is the rainy season, so it often rains during the monsoon season in the coastal areas of Arakan State. If it rains heavily, I want people to be careful about the floods,” he said.
U Hla Tun also warned people living along the Arakan coast to be mindful of the potential for dangerous flash flooding.
The DMH said that in the next two days, rain is a certainty in parts of Arakan, Kayin and Mon states, and Bago and Yangon regions.
The DMH said in a statement that strong winds and moderate to strong waves are expected in the Andaman Sea, Delta Region, Gulf of Martaban, along the Mon-Tanintharyi coast and elsewhere on the Myanmar coast.
