Launglon man shot dead in Tanintharyi’s Dawei
A man was reportedly shot dead in Dawei, Tanintharyi Region, at around noon on February 8.

A man was reportedly shot dead in Dawei, Tanintharyi Region, at around noon on February 8.
The driver of a Toyota Surf was shot dead by unidentified gunmen while parked near Yoma Bank on Bogyoke Road in Dawei, a local resident told DMG.
“As he was getting out of the car, an unidentified gunman on a motorbike fired three shots and left. The victim is thought to be dead. Police arrived in an ambulance and carried away his body,” the resident added.
Police are investigating the killing. The deceased was a resident of Launglon town in Tanintharyi Region.
A local resident said junta soldiers and police were still conducting interrogations of some people in Dawei well into the evening on the day of the shooting.
“The junta soldiers and police were forcibly checking CCTV footage of nearby homes and conducting interrogations of passersby,” the resident said.
No organisation has yet claimed responsibility for the shooting.
Several people accused of acting as military informants have been shot dead in Dawei since last February’s military coup, according to local sources.
