AA says it is providing humanitarian aid, but more needed, for IDPs including Muslims

Around 200,000 internally displaced people (IDPs), including Muslims from Maungdaw and Buthidaung townships who are taking shelter in areas controlled by the Arakkha Army (AA), are in need of emergency relief supplies including food and medicine, said the ethnic armed group.
Around 80 percent of the 200,000 IDPs are Muslims, and the rest are Arakanese people and ethnic minorities.
The AA said it is taking good care of those displaced, but needs food, baby essentials, sanitary pads, shelter, latrines and other humanitarian basics. The AA has urged international organisations, nongovernmental organisations, donor organisations and individual donors to provide assistance.
Despite various criticisms over complex situations in Arakan State, the AA is dutifully providing public services as per its stance and obligations, said an AA statement.
Over 500,000 people are taking shelter in areas controlled by the AA, which is protecting and helping them regardless of race and religion, the statement added.
