The parallel National Unity Government (NUG) was among those sending messages of felicitation to mark the 15th anniversary of the founding of the Arakan Army (AA) on Wednesday.
The NUG said that Myanmar’s current period is the best time to end the military dictatorship and build a new federal, democratic union that all the people are hoping for, the message said.
“Let’s take the best opportunity together and create a new country of the future where there will be self-determination, equality, justice and development,” the NUG’s message reads.
The NUG said that it paid tribute to the Arakanese martyrs and Arakanese people who sacrificed their lives and property during the AA’s 15-year revolutionary campaign. The NUG’s message said the AA is fighting practically to end the military dictatorship, as well as supporting the people and revolutionary organisations of the Spring Revolution.
Other ethnic armed organisations and revolutionary forces across Myanmar also sent messages of felicitation to mark the 15th anniversary of the founding of the Arakan Army on April 10.
