The military junta launched heavy nighttime aerial attacks on three villages in Ponnagyun Township, Arakan State, an area controlled by the Arakan Army, according to local sources.

Beginning at around 9:00 p.m. on November 3, junta jet fighters and Y-12 aircraft dropped at least 40 bombs on Kuntaung, Kyunchay and Makkalarkya villages in Ponnagyun Township, the sources said.

"The regime was heavily bombing three villages from the air," a male resident of Ponnagyun Township told DMG. "We could hear explosions almost all night long. Terrified, we had to run down to hide beneath our houses and inside bomb shelters."

Fierce clashes between the military junta and the Arakan Army continue along the border between Sittwe and Ponnagyun townships.

Junta forces have carried out daily aerial attacks on areas near Minchaung Bridge along the Sittwe–Ponnagyun border, as well as locations inside Ponnagyun Township.

"We cannot comment on the exact military situation on the ground," another male resident of Ponnagyun told DMG. "Since fighting broke out, the military has been bombing areas around Ponnagyun Township and Sittwe almost daily. Most villagers have already fled their homes due to the active clashes."

The three targeted villages are located near the border of Sittwe, Rathedaung and Ponnagyun townships, forcing residents to abandon their homes and flee to safer areas.

The military junta launched its first major offensive toward Ponnagyun Township on September 4, seeking to advance into territory controlled by the Arakan Army. After that push was repelled, the junta launched a renewed offensive in late October. The Arakan Army has continued its counterattacks, with fighting remaining intense along the township borders.

Ground battles have been reported near Shwe Min Gan Naval Base and Amyint Kyun Village along the Sittwe–Ponnagyun border.

In its efforts to advance into territory controlled by the Arakan Army, the military regime has continued to combine ground offensives with aerial bombardments. On November 1, junta aircraft carried out coordinated attacks in Kyauktaw, Mrauk-U, Kyaukphyu and Werathani townships.

Those attacks killed 12 civilians and injured 32 others, according to the Arakan Army. The targets included the Mrauk-U maternity clinic, Yoe Creek Bridge in Kyauktaw, residential areas in Kyaukphyu, and Werathani and Ywachaunggyi Village in Werathani Township.

Across Arakan State, the military junta continues to rely heavily on airpower, with attacks damaging civilian villages, medical facilities, schools, Buddhist monasteries, roads and bridges.
