Regime bombs three villages in Thandwe and Taungup

Myanmar’s military regime reportedly carried out airstrikes on three villages in Arakan State’s Thandwe and Taungup townships on November 6.

A junta jet fighter dropped bombs on Hsingaung and Nyaungchayhtauk villages in Thandwe Township at around 11:35 a.m. on November 6.

“A bomb dropped by a junta jet fighter fell and exploded between the two villages, hitting a cow,” said a local resident.

A junta air assault on Kintaung, a model village in Taungup Township, destroyed an office belonging to the Forest Department and four homes at about 1:30 a.m. on November 6.

“A government office and four homes were destroyed in a regime air attack on Kintaung Village in Taungup Township on Wednesday,” said a local.

At least 10 civilians were killed and 12 others were injured when a junta jet fighter dropped several bombs on Kintaung Village during two sorties on October 4.

The regime carried out air attacks on a monastery in Hsingaung Village from October 29-30, and the monastery’s abbot was severely wounded. An internally displaced person (IDP) was killed and another was injured in a junta airstrike on Nyaungchayhtauk Village on October 1.

Since the battle for control of Thandwe reached Hsingaung Village, there have been seven aerial bombardments, killing 17 residents and injuring 18.

The regime has frequently carried out airstrikes on areas controlled by the Arakkha Army (AA), in addition to the areas where past fighting took place in Arakan State. Due to the regime’s airstrikes and artillery attacks, civilian casualties are increasing, and people are living in a state of anxiety.

At least 180 civilian casualties were reported in Arakan State due to junta air raids and artillery strikes last month, according to a DMG tally.
