IDPs relocated due to clashes in Loikaw and Demoso townships
With fierce clashes since January 6 between the Myanmar military and Karenni Nationalities Defense Force (KNDF) in Loikaw and Demoso townships, Kayah State, residents at internally displaced person (IDP) camps have had to relocate, said people assisting Karenni IDPs.

With fierce clashes since January 6 between the Myanmar military and Karenni Nationalities Defense Force (KNDF) in Loikaw and Demoso townships, Kayah State, residents at internally displaced person (IDP) camps have had to relocate, said people assisting Karenni IDPs.
Artillery shells landed in some IDP camps during the fighting and there were reports of casualties, an aid worker told DMG.
“Artillery shells landed in the IDP camps last night. Some were injured, including my friends. We are evacuating them so far. They are in need of help for many things,” she said.
More than 1,000 IDPs have been displaced from their camps since Friday morning, with the affected IDPs evacuated to safer locations, said a KNDF official.
“The regime council opened fire continuously at 7 a.m. So, some IDPs are injured. Now, we are relocating them,” the official said.
Myanmar military troops were deployed from Loikaw to Battalin village in Demoso Township, and have reportedly been conducting offensive operations, destroying some houses due to fire caused by artillery strikes.
