Regime airstrike kills villager, injures two others in Kyaukphyu Twsp

A junta jet fighter dropped bombs on Thitkatoe and Layponekyauk villages in Kyaukphyu Township, Arakan State, on Thursday, killing one civilian and injuring two others.

The deceased has been identified as U Nyi Pu Chay, 56, from Thitkatoe Village and the injured are Maung Kaung Htet Aung, 16, and Ko Soe Naing Tun, 20, from Layponekyauk Village.

“A junta jet fighter dropped bombs on two villages at around 4:30 p.m. on April 25. A local man was killed on the spot,” said a resident of Sanae town.

The regime carried out airstrikes and artillery attacks on civilian areas in Kyaukphyu Township yesterday without any fighting in the area, locals said.

The junta airstrikes have resulted in civilian deaths and damage to buildings, and residents are worried about the danger of more airstrikes.

“A junta jet fighter dropped at least 15 bombs yesterday. There are also unexploded bombs left on the ground. People in the village are scared because they have never experienced anything like this. The villagers are worried that they will be attacked,” said a resident of Layponekyauk Village.

Thousands of local people were displaced by junta shellings and airstrikes on Sanae town and nearby villages this month.

Regime aircraft reportedly dropped two 500 pound bombs on Shinsawpyin, Magyichaung, Kwaychaung and Yaysin villages in Thandwe Township on April 15.

The Arakkha Army (AA) has seized Ramree town in southern Arakan State and fierce clashes are reported in Thandwe Township, with military tensions running high in Kyaukphyu Township.

The military regime, which has faced defeat after military defeat in Arakan State, is targeting towns and villages, causing civilian casualties to rise steadily in recent months.
