Photos captured by a DMG reporter on 11 and 12 July show the severe impact of flooding across the Panmyaunggyi Creek area.
Around 20 villages in the Panmyaunggyi Creek area of Minbya Township, Arakan State, were submerged by floodwaters, forcing residents to evacuate to safer areas.
The affected villages, including Khwesone, Hteinpin, Pauktaw, Shwekyan, Pyinyaung, Ohpyintaung, Ngatar, Pweya Kanseik and Minphu, remained flooded from 7 July to 13 July.
The floods caused extensive damage, destroying granaries and crop plantations, while livestock including chickens, pigs and cattle were swept away.
Although floodwaters have receded, affected communities remain in urgent need of assistance, including clean drinking water, food supplies and paddy seeds to replant damaged crops.
