Military-AA clashes continue to intensify in Gwa Twsp
Fighting between the Myanmar military and Arakkha Army (AA) is escalating near Satthwar Village in Gwa Township, with some junta soldiers retreating from the area, according to military sources.

Fighting between the Myanmar military and Arakkha Army (AA) is escalating near Satthwar Village in Gwa Township, with some junta soldiers retreating from the area, according to military sources.
Fleeing junta soldiers are being hunted down by the AA fighters and clashes between the two sides continue to intensify near Satthwar Village, said a source.
“Some regime soldiers withdrew from Satthwar Village to Chingon Village. A clash between the military and AA broke out near Satthwar Village this morning,” the source added.
Chingon Village is located about 12 miles from Gwa Town. The AA’s advance is verging on Satthwar Village near Gwa Town, and the regime has prepared a defence at the village, and sent reinforcements from Ayeyarwady Region to the area.
“The regime is sending reinforcements from Ayeyarwady Region and weapons to Gwa Township. A few people remain in downtown Gwa. Almost all local residents have fled to safer locations,” said another source.
Thousands of people who have fled their homes in Gwa Township and are in urgent need of food assistance.
“The number of internally displaced people (IDPs) is on the rise as the fighting in Gwa Township gets more intense. There are around 15,000 IDPs in Gwa Township. IDPs are currently in urgent need of food and medicine. Donors are also fewer and IDPs have more difficulties,” said an aid worker.
Fighting between the military and AA began in Gwa Township on August 8 and clashes are escalating as the ethnic armed group steps up attacks on junta camps.
