Junta shells, bombs Arakan Army–held areas in Rathedaung
Residents said a junta artillery battalion fired more than 30 rounds of heavy weapons at around 7 p.m. on December 12.

Junta artillery units in Sittwe and the air force launched shelling and airstrikes on Mosel Island in Rathedaung Township, Arakan State, an area controlled by the Arakan Army, according to local residents.
Residents said a junta artillery battalion fired more than 30 rounds of heavy weapons at around 7 p.m. on December 12.
“At around 7 p.m. last night, the junta artillery regiment fired at least 30 rounds of heavy weapons. No casualties are known so far,” a Rathedaung Township resident told DMG.
At around 9 a.m. the following morning, a junta jet fighter bombed Yaypaiksone Village on Mosel Island.
Residents from villages on Mosel Island, including Autzeekaing, Ahtet Zeekaing, Nyaungpinle and Hsarpyingyi, are reportedly fleeing due to the fighting.
The military regime has intensified air attacks across Arakan State. On December 12 alone, it simultaneously attacked Rathedaung, Ponnagyun and Mrauk-U townships, as well as Wahbo Village in Sittwe Township and Thaekhon Village in Pauktaw Township.
The Arakan Army has warned residents across Arakan State to remain especially vigilant against airstrikes.
