Junta tightens checks in Yangon township after attack on police station
Since the resistance attack on November 20, the junta has been conducting nightly searches of homes near the station and stopping pedestrians for questioning.

Myanmar’s military regime has tightened security checks in Mingalardon Township, Yangon Region, following an attack on the township’s central police station.
Since the resistance attack on November 20, the junta has been conducting nightly searches of homes near the station and stopping pedestrians for questioning.
One Mingalardon resident said: “They check our ID cards and ask about our ethnicity. If we are riding a motorcycle, they search the motorcycle boxes. They ask where we’re coming from and where we work.”
The urban guerrilla group Dark Shadow claimed responsibility for the attack on the police station on Wednesday. While there may have been casualties on the police side, Dark Shadow reported no injuries among its members.
Normally, overnight guest checks and ID checks only took place once a month in the township, said residents.
Another resident said: “They stopped pedestrians and questioned people without ID cards. It lasted nearly an hour. There were no tight checks before.”
Dark Shadow has vowed to continue targeting junta forces.
