Revolutionary forces have launched heavy artillery attacks on the military junta’s No. 16 Defence Industry weapons factory in Padaung Township, Bago Region, military sources reported.
Captain Zin Yaw, a participant in the Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM), confirmed that several shells landed and exploded inside the factory compound during the attack on March 1.
The offensive, led by the Arakan Army (AA) and allied revolutionary forces, has reportedly advanced to within five kilometers of the facility.
Military sources added that clashes are also occurring along the Arakan Mountains on the border of Bago Region and Arakan State, where the military regime has deployed drones in its operations.
The push toward the No. 16 weapons factory follows the Arakan Army and its allies’ capture of the strategically significant “Point 666” hilltop camp.
Observers noted that the regime has reinforced its positions at the factory and reduced gunpowder production while shifting into a defensive posture.
Since early 2025, the Arakan Army and allied forces have conducted military operations in Padaung Township, seizing several junta outposts, including Moehti, Nyaungkyoe, and Point 666 hilltop camps.
The Otshitpin military station in Padaung Township remains a critical hub for the junta, hosting multiple defense industries, including weapons factories No. 3, 5, 6, 9, and 16.
