Fire at village bazaar in Sittwe Twsp destroys several stalls
A fire at a local bazaar in Dar Paing Muslim Village, part of Arakan State’s Sittwe Township, on Monday engulfed 12 stalls, according to stall owners.

A fire at a local bazaar in Dar Paing Muslim Village, part of Arakan State’s Sittwe Township, on Monday engulfed 12 stalls, according to stall owners.
The fire was reportedly caused by a stall selling firewood and charcoal in Dar Paing Bazaar at around 9 p.m. on June 12.
“I closed my stall at 7 p.m. and went back home to have dinner. I heard news after I had dinner that a stall next to my shop was reduced to ashes by the fire. When I went to my shop, I could not enter my shop. The fire destroyed my shop,” said U Shwe Win, a stall owner.
Twelve shops including a grocery and a betel leaf stall were burnt to the ground, though no casualties were reported. The estimated property losses totalled about K200 million, according to an auxiliary firefighter from Dar Paing Village.
The blaze was put out about two hours after it was reported by 40 firefighters using two fire engines, two water tankers and an emergency vehicle, the Arakan State Fire Services Department said.
