Over 300 political prisoners freed from 10 prisons nationwide
According to a statement from the Political Prisoners Network Myanmar (PPNM), 324 political prisoners have been released from 10 prisons across the country following an amnesty announced by Myanmar’s military regime.

According to a statement from the Political Prisoners Network Myanmar (PPNM), 324 political prisoners have been released from 10 prisons across the country following an amnesty announced by Myanmar’s military regime.
The prisoners were held in facilities including Paungde, Tharrawaddy, Daik-U, Maubin, Kawthaung, Pakokku, Kalay, Pyay, Thaton, and Myeik.
Data from the PPNM shows that the released group includes 153 men, 61 women, and 110 individuals whose gender is currently being verified.
The military regime declared the nationwide amnesty on March 2 in commemoration of Peasants’ Day, granting pardons to a total of 10,162 prisoners. The official statement noted that the total includes 7,337 political prisoners and 2,825 inmates serving sentences for other offenses.
The regime also announced the dismissal of court cases against 12,487 individuals charged under Section 50(j) and Section 52(a) of the Counterterrorism Law, as well as those charged under Section 512 of the Code of Criminal Procedure for being in hiding.
