Chin Brotherhood spokesman Salai Yaw Mang said the capture of the entirety of Arakan State by the Arakan Army (AA) would have a major impact on revolutionary forces throughout Myanmar.
"The liberation of Arakan State would have a huge impact on the revolutionary forces across the country, not to mention the Chin Brotherhood, which is based in Chin State, which borders Arakan State," he told DMG.
He added that total AA control of Arakan State would have political, military and economic ramifications, as well as affecting transportation and weapons supply and distribution for revolutionary forces throughout Myanmar.
The AA's success could have international repercussions, given the presence of China's Belt and Road (BRI) project, oil pipeline projects and the India-funded Kaladan Multi-Modal Transit Transport Project in Arakan State, Salai Yaw Mang added.
He said that in the future, when the overthrow of the dictatorship is completed, the Arakanese and Chin people will need to work together to build the region economically.
"Armed resistance is a temporary solution. Then stability and peace will be the long-term solution," he said. "As long as Magway, Bago and Ayeyarwady regions are under the regime's control, the only safe haven for Arakan State is Chin State. The Arakanese and Chin people will continue to be heavily dependent on each other for their resistance, politics and economy."
The Chin Brotherhood has captured Kanpetlet, Mindat, Matupi and Kyindwe townships in Chin State, and is considered by military observers to be the most successful of the Chin resistance forces.
The Chin Brotherhood has built a strong alliance with the AA, reportedly engaging in joint fighting and exchanging manpower and other forms of military assistance.
The AA has seized 14 of 17 townships in Arakan State and Paletwa Township in Chin State, and has formed administrative bodies in territories it controls in Arakan State.
The military regime now controls only three towns in Arakan State, and is currently defending against an AA offensive in Kyaukphyu and is engaged in a standoff with the Arakan Army in Sittwe Township.
